Okay. I should be working on homework, or sleeping right now. It's not even 7:00AM. But instead, I'm writing on here. I know that some of you probably want to go after me with Ginsu knives right now... seeing as you probably won't read this until after church, and I'm not going to be there today. I have good reason though, so hear me out!
As most of you know, my grandmother's in the hospital. She had (what we think was) an MS attack the Thursday before last. She and my grandfather flew back to Canada on Tuesday. She's been at the Oshawa General ever since. She was doing very well... was standing with support on... Thursday I think. One bad thing was, sometime over the last week and a bit, she's become legally blind. But that's not it.
She's fallen asleep. And she won't wake up.
Is she dead? No. I can't even go as far to say that she's in a coma. She can't talk, and her eyes stay shut. Yet, if you hold her hand, and say something to her, she'll squeeze your hand. She's been like this since Friday night I think. Both of my mom's sisters stayed the night here, her brother and dad at the hospital. I think mom's already left to join them again.
Joyce and I got to go and visit yesterday. Joyce came out in tears. I was just unsure of what to say.
Are we going to lose her? Not necessarily. They think this may be at least partially due to a sodium deficiency. Plus, she is very much not pale, as you'd expect someone near death to be. Still, my grandparents decided long ago that if they need to be put on life support, they don't want to. Thus, we're preparing for the worst, and hoping for the best.
That's all I can think of to say on that for now. But please, keep her in your prayers.
EDIT 12:50pm: my mom came home for lunch, and told us the results of the catscan that Grandma had yesterday. She's had a major stroke. We don't know when... probably on Friday. She's not going to recover. Mom says all we can do now is wait...though she didn't say what for... so one of two things is possible from what I can gather. Either she will, eventually awake, but never be the same (ability wise) or we are going to lose her. Mom says we're definately going to Florida though... I just wonder if we will if she does pass on. Or what if she does while we're down there? *sigh* I don't need to think about this now... time waits for no one, and homework doesn't either. ^^;
Now, back to your regularily scheduled post. ^_~
On a lighter, if slightly bizarre note, Musical theatre is taking over my life! Okay... not really, but it's weird. Every few days, I see something related to The Wizard of Oz randomly show up. Yesterday, at around 9:00, my sister was channel surfing, and, you guessed it, the movie was on. That's the most straightforward one yet. I've also seen references on Survivor (ding dong the **** is gone) which Joyce was watching on Thursday as I worked on the ever-tall pile of homework, another favourite show of hers. That's So Raven had the cast putting it on. -_- Then, there's the real estate ad my mom found with the ruby slippers on the Yellow Brick Road. That was... 2 weeks ago I think. That's just the tip of the iceberg. It seems as if the Wizard os everywhere.
By the way, if anyone from musical theatre happens to stumble across this, methinks I have found the site where Mr. Thorne got his trivia questions. ^^; Yes, I do have too much time on my hands at times... if that makes any sense whatsoever.
So, that's what's been going on in my life lately. And please, remember, Ginsu knives are only good for when you have no good reason to be away. ^^;
