Anime North is next month.
I still need to start working on my costumes. Plural, especially because most of my old ones don't fit properly anymore -- they're all marginally too big for me now.
Of course, I'm wondering if anything I start now will be marginally too big for me again by AN, but I suppose that's what drafts are for, and I can always draft more than one costume before starting on anything final. ...and then there's whether or not I get a job, and whether or not I will have to move for job, and if I'll be able to sew at new place if I do (this is the major bad side about my current career-type-job-seeking status, for sure: I'll either have tons of time to do everything, or I'll have none and not even have the resources with which to finish my work. Augh.)
That being said, I am very excited for Anime North, as usual. It's a wonderful experience, and my favourite con by far. Plus, I get a certain
tsukinokage for somewhere around half a month, which is a huge burst of awesomeness.
And I get to run panels.
Some backstory: I figured out a long time ago that I like to talk a lot during panels, if they're on subject that I'm interested in, and the best way to be able to be as active a part of the discussion as I want to be is by being on the panel yourself. Anime North has a policy of if you do 5+ panels, you get your admission refunded at the end of the con, or rolled over till next year. So far, I've got four "confirmed" panels (ie the correct number of people doing them and so registration for them is closed) and 2 that are one person away from being filled. So, I'm really hoping that one or both of them get a fourth, because that will mean a) awesome panels being run and I get to be part of them! and b) FREE CON NEXT YEAR!!!!!
The two panels that I'm short on are Fandom in The Real World, and Les Misérables. It's a bit of a shot in the dark, but if any of you are interested in joining, PLEASE DO SO. You don't need much/any experience to run a panel, so long as you're familiar with the topic and can talk about them for about 10 minutes or longer on your own. And Anime North is awesome as said above and I could go on for hours and yes. ...and I can gladly explain more about either and/or how to sign up if asked.
Of course, the week before AN is going to be a little hectic as well, between sister's grad in Iowa (which I'm not sure if I'm going or not, but the rest of the family is), my sister's boyfriend coming up for a visit,
tsukinokage's arrival, and TRYING TO FINISH EVERYTHING EVER.... but it will be fun, I'm sure.
...I also have a pile of books and anime to watch before then, on top of job applications, cleaning, and sewing.
In other words, this should be a busy and fun six and a half weeks.
Oh dear, there's only six and a half weeks.
Welp, time to get busy.
