Yuletide 2022~!
Hello!
1001paperboxes here! Thank you in advance for creating an awesome thing for me! I can't wait to see what you come up with!
Under the cut, you'll find a general list of my likes and dislikes, and then some added info on each of my prompts. I hope there's something that sparks your interest. <3
I'm pretty much good for any and all Wotakoi content, particularly if it stays true to the feel of the original—I'd prefer the same sort of heartwarming-to-silly and always quite nerdy feel, no matter where you go. But beyond that, the sky's the limit. I've fully read the manga and watched all of the anime including the OVAs, so any part of this canon is good for me. =D
That said, my number one request for this fandom is for OT4 fic. I mean, Narumi, Hirotaka, Hanako, and Tarou have all admitted to be dating each other's normal type. And with the shipping and fanservice between the boys, and how well the girls just go together.... yeah. Just. OT4 fic would be absolutely wonderful. Give me them getting together, or going on a group date, or having group sex, or doing exactly what they did as friends except together. Give me them figuring out how it would work and dealing with internalized homophobia along with the more practical logistics, and setting boundaries with each other. Give me them being dorks and being domestic, or preparing for a con, or doing a group cosplay, or whatever else you want. You could do just about anything and I'd be super happy. For that matter, I'd take it all platonic, too, but the OT4 potential is too strong and I want it. ToT
That said, I love the couples as they are, or in any other one-on-one combination. Weird pseudo-dates between Narumi and Tarou and/or Hirotaka and Hanako? Good. The girls having fun together as soulmates, and fantasizing about and/or writing friendfiction about the boys, or the boys, shockingly, actually doing things on their own? AMAZING. (Much to Narumi's potential dismay and Hanako's delight, I am 100% for Kabakura on top out of the two boys.)
I'd also adore anything with the younger characters. Nao-chan is the best ray of sunshine and otaku-enthusiast despite being clueless about anything actually otaku-related, and his relationship with Kou and with Ken-chan and Yokkun are all so adorable. I'd love anything shippy or friend-fluff-y with them, including general hang-outs and/or getting advice from the older group.
Another thing that I'd absolutely love is sibling-y stuff with the Nifujis. Want to show Naoya being more or less Hirotaka's housewife, or Hirotaka actually giving Naoya some older siblingly adivce? I will adore it. Equally good would be a look back at their childhood—we've got some snippets of things mentioned in canon, and expanding on them would be lovely. As would anything involving one or both of them and Narumi back in the era when they were childhood friends.
Also, Chiba definitely thought that Narumi and Koyanagi were dating for a hot minute; I'd love to see her shipping goggles for any/all of the couples around the office (real, imaginary, or some combination of both).
If you want to play around with any of the oneshot-ish AUs from the managa, such as the genderbent versions of everyone, or angel/devil AU, that could also be a lot of fun.
Overall like I said at the start, keep things fun and heartwarming and nerdy, and I will absolutely love all of it. So please, have fun!
Nozaki-kun has such a fun, silly, slice-of-life vibe, and I love how it turns a lot of shoujou (and BL) tropes on their head. I would love to see more of this silliness, and if you can keep that general feel in your work, I will absolutely love it. People bonding over working on the manga or over art in general is great, and very intently playing with gender and tropes is also A++++
I've requested all three siblings, but please do feel free to treat that as an "or" if you prefer; I'll give a bit on each of them beneath, as well as some things I'd like with all three of them together.
So far as Yumeko goes, I've read what there is of Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-san, and would like to see more in that vein. Wanna explore romance? Great! Just want to explore the dynamics between Yumeko and Ritsuo (with Ichigo there or not)? ALSO GREAT. We've only gotten a tiny bit of this potential future (or what may have once been main canon before everything got changed around); I'd love to see your take on everyone! Feel free to throw in Kashima Rei too—I'd love to see how she grows up and what she'd be like with the characters we've already met! (Whether or not her fairy tale-like shipping goggles are still as strong or not. XD)
Mayu is such a ridiculous character. I love him dearly, and think that just about anything from his POV could be an interesting adventure. What does a day in his day look like, trying to keep a minimum amount of effort going unless whatever is going on is related to judo? What does he think of the hijinks that his brother seems to be constantly getting into with his friends?
I have a particular love for Mayu and Mikorin, and the dual relationship that they don't realize that they have. Them realizing that they are each other—and both boys, or distinctly not realizing this and building an online romance, would be great. (The last two lines from Some Like it Hot come to mind.) Or, if you want to approach their relationship some other way, I'd love to see it. (Or, heck, the two of them settled down a few years down the line, and building a life together that is probably a disaster without the help of their friends. XD) Having literally anyone (including one or both of them) trying to figure out if they're actually in a relationship would also be hilariously wonderful, if you'd like to take that route!
So far as Umetarou goes, well, more mangaka hijinks are always welcome, especially if other people get dragged along for the fun. I'd love to see him trying to do research for a Christmas or New Year's episode, or see more into what it was like writing the Tomoda doujin with Mikorin.
And yes, I am 100000% here for Nozaki Sibling Bonding. What's it like when they spend time together? What was it like for the three of them when they were growing up together, and how has Umetarou moving out changed the dynamics, if at all? How does Yumeko not realize that Yumeno Sakiko is actually taken from her own name, and does she ever actually end up believing that it's her brother? Can Yumeko and Umetarou ever rope Mayu into doing something that isn't sleeping or judo? And what are they all going to be like a few years in the future when Mayu and/or Yumeko are in high school, or beyond when they're adults with their various careers? Feel free to explore any of it, or any other part of their sibling dynamic!
As an added note, I'm very happy with all the canon and canon-adjacent ships showing up, with a note that Seo/Waka is my least favourite, so I'd probably request less of a focus on that one if getting into shippy categories. (And if you want to make my stupid rarest of pairs heart happy, any hints towards Ken and Miyako being in a relationship would be amazing. ...it's probably Maeno's fault. XD) But overall, just have fun with this ridiculous series and I'm sure that whatever you create will be amazing.
I watched this show about an aromantic asexual couple becoming a family, and I fell in love so hard. It's just so cozy and good, and I would love more fanworks to exist for this little series.
I'd love to see some stuff centered around the aro/ace meeting in episode 6, and the people we meet there. Like, if you want to give me something centered around Meta, or Gocchin. or that queer couple that doesn't live together, or a deeper look into the meetings themselves, I'd absolutely love that.
That said, the main trio in this show, along with Satoru's ex, all fascinate me, and I'd absolutely adore some slice of life concerning them. Show me a slice of life in the house they call home, or what happens after Satoru moves out, and Sakuko is maintaining the house on her own. How does their relationship grow and change as they both live their dreams? And how does Kazu fit into any and all of this?
What are holidays like when they're all living together, and when Satoru moves out? How have holidays changed for Satoru and/or Sakuko over the years, especially Christmas which tends to be for children and lovers, and thus might come with some societal expectations that they've never quite been comfortable with?
Overall, just give me something cozy and wholesome, be it more character/relationship study or platonic fluff or slice of life, and I'll love it immensely.
Dramacon is an over-15-year-old series for which there is currently very little fan content, and for which I'd like basically anything and everything.
I'd equally love to see some "where are they now?" type stuff, or a reinvention of the canon, updating and seeing what (if anything) in the story would change with the way the world is now versus when it was written. Things just generally set in this slice-of-life universe are also very welcome; some slightly more specific prompts below.
I'd love to see everyone reconnecting at a convention again, whether it's one, ten, or more years later. Is it Chrissie's first time appearing as a guest, or is she still just a regular congoer/doing Artist's Alley? Did Chrissie and Matt manage to actually stay in contact over the course of a whole year for once? Is anyone married with children, and do their kids attend conventions yet? (And if so, how many pictures has Monica taken of them?) Has Sexy Joe been banned yet, or is he still running around in up to his old tricks? And what is it like for everyone attending their first post-pandemic convention?
Focusing on any of the canon relationships would be lovely. Want to show how Matt and Christie's relationship evolves post-canon? Great! Wanna catch us up on how things are working out between Beth and Raj? Great! Wanna go over how Sandra and Greta's relationship began? Amazing! A very nerdy wedding for any of these couples would also be really neat to see, if you want to take them through something like that.
There are also some great secondary characters that we never really get to learn enough about, particularly Firebird Studio and Greta. I'd absolutely adore if you dug into one or more of them. Tell me how Firebird Studio got off the ground, or show me the Green siblings' relationship from Greta's perspective, for example, and I'll absolutely adore it.
Holiday-wise... Okay, so, where I'm from, there's a tiny industry-run convention that happens every year in December, and generally manages to be little more than an overcrowded dealer's room and everyone showing up in their slightly-more-Christmassy-than-usual cosplays. If you wanted to do a take on that with the cast, and have them all show up in holiday cosplay and try to buy each other Christmas presents without anyone noticing (and/or exchange ones gotten at other times) I would gleefully adore it. Of course, a more full-scale con would also be a lot of fun, but there is something about the absolute trash of a "dealer's room and not much else" convention that I think could make for a fun disaster.
Of course, conventions are not all there is to life. If you'd like to explore, say, Christie spending Christmas with the Greens, or Raj celebrating Diwali, I'd love to see it. Bonus points if he very self-consciously brings Beth along to the celebrations. Bonus bonus points if the the rest of the Firebird Studio is there too, peanut gallerying.
In short, give me some good, nerdy, con life content, or some good, nerdy, not-currently-at-a-con life content focusing on anything from Beth figuring out how to rebuild and strengthen her relationship with her mom while staying true to herself, to Christie finally learning how to make a good cosplay, and I'm sure I will love it immensely.
I would love worldbuilding for this book! The mix of steampunk with near-futuristic technology is fascinating, and the history leading from the Victorian period to the present day, likewise, could do with a lot of delving into. I love all the little inserted bits we get between chapters, and I'd love to see more of that or anything else you'd like to do.
One specific request that I have if you're up to the challenge: Explain why the Princess of Wales Theatre exists in this timeline. You see, the theatre where they see Anne of Green Gables is a real Toronto theatre which was originally built for Miss Saigon—a musical that is basically Madame Butterfly set in the Vietnam War, because no other major commercial theatre could properly house the helicopter scene. However, Miss Saigon would likely not exist given the state of America in That Inevitable Victorian Thing, and it's questionable that Madame Butterfly would for that matter. So, what is the alternate history of this theatre?
If you'd like to do something a little more character or relationship-driven, I would absolutely love to see how things develop post-canon with the main trio. How do all the families react to the rather interesting three-way engagement? How do Helena and August adjust to royal life? Did the Marcuses have any idea that their daughter is intersex? And does that lead to any research holes on that part? Does the scandal completely get swept under the rug, or how does it affect things going forward?
I'd also love anything with Fanny and Hiram and their blossoming relationship, or anything from the "downstairs" POV. If you'd like to retell part of the story from one of their or another servants' perspective, I'd also love that.
Finding out how holidays are celebrated on either side of the pond would also be amazing. What is a Christmas like for the Callaghans in the Muskokas, or for the Marcuses in New London, or for the Royal Family? How have traditions from multiple backgrounds been preserved or blended, or have they at all? And what is it like for the servants compared to those living "upstairs"?
In short, have fun with the world and its characters, with all the complexities it brings. I look forward to seeing what you will create!
I have two niche requests for this series, along with some more general likes.
In general, I'd love some slice of life with Deneb and Yuuto, or some hurt/comfort surrounding Yuuto's situation—it can't be easy being saddled with destroying your past and future for the good of the world. I'd also enjoy anything focussed on Yuuto's relationships with various people (Deneb, his daughter, both Nogami siblings, himself) whether or not you go into the angst of those relationships and memories being used as fuel. And if you want to explore Deneb POV, I'd love anything from introspection to something light and fluffy involving buying and serving candy and shiitake, or attempting to make an unforgettable Christmas for the man who must be forgotten.
If you'd like to involve the wider cast, GO RIGHT AHEAD. I'd love a fic with just Yuuto and Deneb, but I'd like more of an ensemble fic just as much. And if you want to involve the ToQgers for more Kobayashi train fun? All the better.
My first niche request is for trans male!Yuuto. For backstory, young!Yuuto was actually played by a girl, and that pretty much made me go "huh. that could lead to some interesting worldbuilding". So, if you'd like to try and tease through a story with that perspective, I'd love to see that. Playing around with his backstory and transitioning could be fun, but I'm also curious what his daughter's genetics would be like in such a world, especially if it meant he was willing to sacrifice everything for a child that was his in every way except genetically.
My second niche request is for... essentially, a post-canon AU in which Endless Love from Pop Team Epic is a Den-O continuation, and the head of that organization played by Yuichi Nakamura is indeed an older Sakurai Yuuto. Perhaps everyone in the organization has been Forgotten as Yuuto has, or perhaps there are issues with the time-bending powers. I'd love to see Yuuto somehow be saved or redeemed if this route is taken—whether the organization is a Big Bad or a group working behind the scenes for the protagonist, having Yuuto be able to return to his family at the end, which he never thought was possible, would be wonderful. And exploring where Deneb is through all of this could be fascinating as well. But really, anything in which that is Sakurai Yuuto and he a sympathetic character and not the big bad would be So Amazing. So if you're up for a challenge and want to write something based on the theme song with no actual attached show... I would Absolutely Love It.
All in all, I love the bittersweet nature of Yuuto, and the mom-friend-ness of Deneb, and I'd love for you to explore both in whatever way works best. If one of my weirdly niche prompts speaks to you, I'd be overjoyed, but I will also love a more general, canon-compliant look at this duo or something with the wider Den-O cast. All I ask is that there be a happy or hopeful ending, and that the bitterness is balanced with something silly or sweet. Beyond that, have fun, and I'm sure I'll love whatever you create.
Under the cut, you'll find a general list of my likes and dislikes, and then some added info on each of my prompts. I hope there's something that sparks your interest. <3
General Notes
- I am 100% happy to receive treats pretty much always. If something I've requested sparks your interest (or you just like me and want to make me a thing because I'm awesome ^_~) I certainly won't say no!
- I particularly like fluff, slice of life, and hurt/comfort, and generally things that can make me laugh and/or want to hug someone.
- If you have a holiday-y idea, then I am 100% on board. I am a giant Christmas nerd, admittedly, but would love to have stories about any holiday, real or imaginary. (Want the Wotakoi cast go to a shrine on New Year's and have Hanako be the only one who knows how to properly put on a kimono? Go for it! Wanna have Nozaki-kun having to write a Christmas special and shenanigans ensuing as he does research? Yes Please! Want to show what modern-day-victorian-steampunk!Christmas looks like? GIANT HEART EYES FROM ME.)
- I like relatively happy endings. Please do not leave me in heartbreak and with people dead everywhere. (People dead everywhere in the beginning and rebuilding together is much better. XD)
- On that note, if doing hurt/comfort, please focus on the comfort and not on the hurt.
- Sex and/or kink are very, very fine, though I'd prefer something with plot to something that's just pwp sex.
- Some particular loves of mine in the sex/kink arena are gentle femdom, tall subs, kinky fluff, and silliness/banter in the midst of sex/scenes. Asexual kink is very, very good.
- Suffice to say, this is not my first rodeo, and I've requested a lot of these fandoms before. A lot of my requests are the same from year to year (I'll admit to have done a fair amount of copy/pasting) but if there's anything in my requests from other exchanges that you'd like to include, please feel free. Chances are, I'm still very interested.
- My DNW list is pretty short. Basically, if you avoid AO3's the major archive warnings for Rape/Non-Con and Major Character Death, you're golden.
Wotakoi
I'm pretty much good for any and all Wotakoi content, particularly if it stays true to the feel of the original—I'd prefer the same sort of heartwarming-to-silly and always quite nerdy feel, no matter where you go.
