So, for those of you who haven't figured it out by now, I'm back.
I've been back since about 9:00 Saturday (10-ish if you don't include my stop at the Williams'), but I haven't had much time to be online before today. So... here we go.
We left at about 3:00 on Saturday afternoon... only to take a 20 minute break ten minutes in so that half of the people could get a late lunch. -_- There were 2 vans. Uncle Peter's had Joyce riding shotgun, and Laura, Danica, Ryan, Josh (Jered's little brother...) and Megan (Danica's friend) in the back 2 rows. I was in the back of the second with two little girls, who were first-year-camper age. They were small, and thus the back was not squishy at all, thank goodness. ^_^ We stopped in Parry Sound (technically Nobel, but meh...) for a break, and so I bought a Wendy's kids meal that served as my dinner, along with the bag of pretz and reverse pocky that I ate along the way.
We arrived, and all of us that had been there before were like CAMP! (Yes... it is that exciting to be back... ^^;) There were a few people there (Read: everyone who came with us, Fiona, or the other few counselors that arrived -- most of them were there the day before). People who were hungry had hot dogs for dinner, and we had a campfire, which Ken led with Joyce and I helping out a lot.
That night, I was in a room in the children's center (where we girls were to sleep that week) with Danica, Megan, Laura, Joyce, Kelly, Lara (from Russia, she's nice) and Fiona. We slept well, except for the fact that we had a little bit of giddiness going on with the younger ones, and Lija and Natasha came over to say "hi" right as we were drifting off.
And then Danica and Megan woke me up to say they were going to the washroom. ^^;
And that was th' first day.
On Sunday, we had french toast for breakfast. Made by the adults, 'cause the cooks weren't here yet. After going on a Natasha-finding scavanger hunt to find out what room we should be in *heh* I moved my stuff over and found myself a bed -- lower bunk on the bed in the left hand corner of the front of the room (standing at the door) of the first room on the left at the back of the children's center. (go detail?) I then made the dorm signs (sheets posted with room assignments) on Fiona's computer and designed them in black and white before realizing the printer worked in colour... -_-;;; People kept on looking over my shoulder to see where they were/who they were with while I was working... ^^; We had a staff meeting and then lunch. Don't ask me what we had though... I forget. >.< I *do* think we had spaghetti that night though... ^^;
It rained a LOT over the weekend, so I became to joke about it being "monsoon season". That was fun. And... I was one of the few people who brought an umbrella, so I stayed dry all week long! ^_^
People started arriving in the early afternoon, and everyone was there by dinner. People recognized me because of the SMOJ more than they did "CLAIRE!". It was great. ^_^
My dorm consisted of Tara, Megan, Danica, Amber, Holly, Austin and then Natasha and I staffing. It was a good room.
Second campfire of the week (for me) was that night, and I lead a number of songs including "If I Had The Wings Of An Aeroplane" (people got addicted to that song... ^_^) and my role as "assistant campfire leader" was basically established. So... I led a ton of songs as Ken needed them done for the rest of the week. I think I could have planned/ordered them a little better than him, but meh.
Natasha, Lija and I led a number of non-totally-name-based getting to know you games. It was fun, but we learned how unenthusiastic a good portion of the group could be. ^^; That being said, I wonder what would have happened if we told them all to shout out their names at the END of the week... ^^; Fiona went over the rules, and we had snack, and that's basically all that happened that day.
For the record, in my room, Amber was above me, then Austin was above Tara on the bed behind me. Natasha was above Holly on the bed across from that, and Megan and Danica were on mattresses on the floor in front of them, leaving enough room for the door to open, and a nice pathway to get to all the rooms.
That night, before bed, a HUGE spider was spotted in the room. We tried to get it but it ran away, leaving a number of people a little afraid that night as we went to sleep...
Monday was my first full day on staff, technically. We started using the normal schedule, which included my drama elective. It only had 7 people in it (Tara, Kristen, Seth, Jeff, Amber, Lisa, and Holly). Some were good, others were... a little too shy, but still not horrible. Just in need of more confidence. Paul helped me out, and we did the "Amuse the King and Queen or DIE" game. That was fun... I got to order people to lose their big toes, and to bleed to death from needle pokes. ^_^ We put on the "Motorcycle gang" skit, which was awesome because Seth was the guy in the tent, and he invented the idea of "MOUSE HUNTING!!!!" whih basically consists of taking off a shoe and banging it against the floor.
That was absolutely HILLARIOUS!
Other random stuff happened on Monday too. For instance, I think that was the day we did "An Austrian Went Yodelling". That was just... great. ^_^ We had a Russian Cucoo bird... Uncle Peter and Natasha as "kissing birds", Eric as the maiden, and Seth as "gollum" to name a few... LOL.
Monday's evening activity was... something that I forget at the moment. ^^; I'm getting Kelly and Joyce to see if they know. *a moment passes* Nope, we all forget. But it was pretty good... I think... ^^;.
Oh! I almost forgot! As of Monday, we had no lifeguard, so instead, we got out every jug we had, and had a HUGE water fight on the field. It was hillarious! (and I just watched it from the gazeebo... which I fought alone. :P)
That night, the spider reappeared. We thought it got away again, but then Holly killed it. We celebrated her victory over the evil spider, and then dedicated it to Jesus before we went to sleep.
Tuesday was... relatively normal. Our group had breakfast KP (and washrooms), and we arrived at normal time to find the boys had already gotten well on their way, as they arrived early. We were happy about that, as there had been little-NO boys helping in the setup on the earlier two days. (Unfortunatly, when they or other boys came early to do them, it seemed they wanted to do so in order to make the girls "feel bad" and to get out of doing KP after the meal. Those are things I actually heard/observed when people were doing KP, and it made me angry.) We then had our morning devotions, which consisted of the group being devided into four, with each group circulating around the four signs posted around camp saying "unity", "community", "diversity" and "teamwork/interaction". Morning was pretty uneventful, besides the fact that it was my first day running Silly Time (a time for playing games before Theme Class) which I ended up organizing for the rest of the week. In the afternoon... not much else happened. I think the phrase "you can leave" (one of the many signs of disrespect and inappropriate behaviour that many of the boys threw around because they found it funny) emmerged. Some other signs of the misbehaviour of certain campers also began to show by this point. More on those later.
I think was Tuesday that I started "Here's To Peter and the way he does Nothing". It was great. A couple seconds of silence followed before he got a round of applause. I was laughing. Joyce also read the bible (AKA Matthew 1) at some point.
Paul and I ran Bingo that night as part of a games night. We played 2 or 3 rounds of regular (any line), then 2 rounds of stand up/Loser's Bingo, then progressive bingo, where you go from 4 corners to a straight line to a full card. One guy (Justin I think... though it *might* have been Scott...) literally won half of the games... it was awesome. We also (as a camp) decorated pillowcases that can act as laundry bags. Mine has writing all over it going over things I am a fangirl of/other random things. 'twas fun.
Campfire that night was full of action songs. Yes, I led many of them, including "Little Spaceship in the Sky". I love that song...
In a somewhat related note, I think that this was the night where we went stargazing. When I say "we", I mean Lija, Lara and I. It was really beautiful... I love the view up there... ^_^
Wednesday started out good, but went downhill quickly.
The first activity of the day was waking up the boys. All the girls went and sang numerous songs AT THE TOP OF OUR LUNGS in order to wake them up (it worked!). That was just fun. ^_^
I ran devotions that morning (all by myself) in the chapel. I talked about camp, the feeling that I get there (as do many others), and how it links to how we need to let God into our lives, while tying it into the four themes. That being said, I haven't had what I would call my "experience" yet, if any of you know what I'm talking about, so it sometimes feels weird for me talking about it, as I haven't quite figured how to do it myself. Still, I was told that I did a good job, and was even inspirational to some. So... that was good. ^_^
As I said, it went downhill from there. That day was "rule enforcement day", and it wasn't exactly pretty. During a staff meeting, we had talked about how the guys were getting little sleep, and people (read: mostly boys) were not following the rules well at all.
A couple informal talks on the rules were given during the day, and we hoped people got the message. That evening, however, proved otherwise.
But fist, dinner. It was the Utensil Meal. (We had a Monk's meal on either Monday or Tuesday, but meh). I had a spaghetti fork, and managed half-decently, though it was rather messy... ^^; I was able to correctly guess what dessert was going to be that night: cheesecake. We ALWAYS have cheesecake on utensil meal night. ALWAYS.
Our evening activity was Chats, followed by Kangaroo Court and ending with Flags (after a chocolate fondue, naturally.) Chats went well. We answered questions, both in seriousness and joking-ness, and through song. :P
Kangaroo Court was done in fun, but a certain group of boys ended up attempting to be in every court case, and could NOT stop and listen. We had to stop after the third one because it got too out of hand. (There were 5 lined up to go, one of which was absolutely awesome, but never made it to court.) :(
Natasha broke down at the beginning of Flags. No one was listening and co-operating on our team. We started unorginized, but Lara and I managed to get at least some order back into it, and I jailkept, finding out that some people like InuYasha in the process. I ended up getting at least one BOY to agree to bear my child. :P
The game ended early, and Ken gave the campers a little chat. Let's just say that I never want to hear the words "poison" and "close down the camp" in the same PARAGRAPH ever again. Between that and Natasha being upset, my dorm was in pretty low spirits. We had a talk before evening devotions and the went to bed.
Unfortunately, some people STILL didn't get the message that was spread the day before about needing to behave.
There was the banquet that night, and it went pretty well except for the fact that people weren't helping Natasha, and a coconut went missing. Between that and everything else that happened, Ken was really angry at staff meeting that night. Lija and Natasha needed to leave the grounds for a while because they were REALLY upset by this point, and were unsure if they could make it through the last 2 days. They did, but it was frustrating for them, especially as the number of staff decreased after this since Rod had a kidney stone and Paul needed to leave for... some reason... Friday morning.
Talent show was good. Iain, Ryan and Scott did impressions of the male counsellors, and that was just funny... (Ryan: Someone in this room looks pretty hot, and there's no one else in this room... Scott: *says some stuff while pretending to fix his hair into a mohawk, leaving a line of hair standing up in the middle of his head*) Lara did a Russian version of the Titanic, and it was HILARIOUS. I hope she does it agian at Reunion/Sr High. *giggles at the dancing old ladies* I sang "Let it Be" with Kevin. That was good... but we were delayed because his glasses broke. So... I entertained the crowd with magic tricks, including throwing a finger around the room. Not that was fun.
However, the nonstop use of the word "cocoNUT" amongst the campers after that wasn't. They didn't understand why we staff people were so angry/upset over the fact that it went missing, I guess...
Campfire that evening was good. We cremated a spider replica, and the fire was huge. Drama put on the "growing machine" skit. Amber was a cute baby, Seth VOLUNTEERED to crossdress, and Scott (a boy that's a month older than Joyce and a few inches shorter than me) wanted to go in it and grow. ^_^ That was fun. It was a good last campfire. Ken gave a bunch of thank yous at the end, and I got a round of applause. I felt so loved. ^_^
And that was Thursday.
Friday was sleep-in day. We all got an hour of extra sleep before reporting to the chapel for morning devotions.
Dinner was a bondage meal, which was fun. Eric was sitting between a rightie and a leftie in such a way that he could technically use both hands without being much of a bother and he wasn't using EITHER for the longest time... LOL. I was sitting next to Laura on the left end of the table, myself. We did the wave. ^_^
During drama, we did a number of different games, and had some random people from other electives join us. The last 15-ish minutes were spent going over what *insert name here* is thinking. That was WAY too amusing.
During recreation on that day, I had a couple conversations with people about anime. That was fun. Anime RULES!!!!!
By the way, Kristen Bowen has also agreed to bear my children.
That night was evening service. It was nice, but shorter/more quiet than I like. Not enough people talked. And people at Jr don't generally spend the time afterwards hugging like at Sr. That's one of the traditions I can't wait for, 'cause I love the embraces after the long, tear-filled service.
Anyway... after service was log signing, and then bedtime.
Saturday was "Mass Exodus Day". In the morning, everyone got ready to go by packing and cleaning as assigned. In the afternoon, people slowly left. The last people to leave were Kristen and Jeff for the second year in a row by my understanding...
Fiona's van and Uncle Peter's van left immediately afterwards. Ours consisted of me sitting shotgun with Joyce and Kelly in the middle, and Ryan, Danica and Laura in the back. Fiona's held (herself, naturally,) Tara, Scott, Iain, Scott (yes, 2 Scotts), and Lara. It was pretty uneventful, except for the fact that all 3 cars met up for dinner, and we passed Lija and Natasha, who had left at least an hour before us, on our way down. They were at a garage sale. ^^;
We got back at around 9:00, and I went downstairs to check my email while Danica and Ryan got excited that Megan (who had left camp early) would be "coming back Sunday" AKA yesterday. Everyone else went swimming, but I didn't feel like getting my clothes wet like everyone else seemed to. At some point, Jason came downstairs and glomped me... that was amusing... and then I went home when my parents arrived, thus ending my Jr High /05 CIT-ing experience.
Yesterday was a family b-day party. It was fun. We started Harry Potter (reading it as a family as per normal). Please, no one spoil it for me unless I ask you to. :P
Oh, and I just found out that I got an 85 on my grade 8 singing exam. YAY! ^_^

I want everyone who reads this entry to ask me three questions - no more, no less. Ask me anything you want and I will answer it. Then I want you to go to your journal and copy and paste this text, thus allowing your friends to ask you anything.
Random fact: In the song "Let It Be", the lyrics "Mother Mary comes to me" referrs to John Lennon's mother named Mary who died when he was about 14, not the virgin Mary.

Don't ask me what we had though... I forget. >.< I *do* think we had spaghetti that night though... ^^;

I entertained the crowd with magic tricks, including throwing a finger around the room. Not that was fun.

Fiona's held (herself, naturally,) Tara, Scott, Iain, Scott (yes, 2 Scotts), and Lara. It was pretty uneventful, except for the fact that all 3 cars met up for dinner, and we passed Lija and Natasha, who had left at least an hour before us, on our way down. They were at a garage sale. ^^;
YAY! ^_^

You got Tohru Honda (From Fruits Basket)!!! She is
a rather lonely girl who often is excluded from
class games. She isn't the most intelligent
girl around, but she'll cook, clean, and take
care of you with a mother's heart.

Yay! I wanna see/read Fruits Basket... *_*

You got INU-YASHA (From Inu-Yasha)!!! He is a half
dog demon with a bad temper. But if you get on
his good side, he is quite pleasant and very
caring. He'll protect you through the bad and
the good and he has lovely silver hair. Aren't
his doggy ears cute?

Is it just me, or is that a chibi InuYasha picture?
Kawaii... ^_^
(he looks cutest as a chibi/human...)
...and one of the answers has Yugi, with a picture that is clealy Yami no Yugi (with a face that look more like how he looks in the 1st series, though it's clearly from the second...) ^^;;;;; And yes, it looks like he's in a high-heeled jumpsuit. (don't ask me how that works...)
39: Jigglypuff - When its huge eyes light up, it
sings a mysteriously soothing melody that lulls
its enemies to sleep.
