So, just so everyone is on the same wavelength going into this, this is going to be an lj entry going over the week of reunion... right up until... oh, let's say bedtime on Saturday, August 20. Hopefully it will all fit into one entry. If not... I'll just have to be creative.

Now, on with the entry.

On Thursday, I packed, and was up with Joyce until about 1 am Friday morning between doing that, being online, and burning a CD (the latter of which was completely her doing...). Woke up... erm... later that morning (still within "normal" wake up time for me), and did... erm... stuff until 11:30-ish. That's when we left, if memory serves me right...

We stopped for lunch not in Parry Sound/Nobel, but in... urgh... the town where Aunt Christine lives and of which I cannot place the name at this moment. >.> Mom, Joyce and I went to Tim Horton's and dad went to Subway. I had soup (note to self: soup at Timmies is way too viscus, and not as yummy as their chilli. Stick to the chilli from now on) and a brownie (they reminded me of Baker Bob's when I saw them... so how could I turn them down?).

It had been raining for a good portion of the way up... but I got to control the music for most of it! Got in some show tunes (read: a mixed ALW tape... not complete freedom or I would have put on the original London cast recording of POTO), police choir (more show tunes there! but they're version of "Anthem" [from Chess) is nothing compared to Colm Wilconson's version... *drools*)

We arrived at 4:30-ish. Mom and dad parked the van and started setting stuff up while Joyce and I went walking and talked to Jen, Jared, Cory and Sarah (the latter two were a new-to-me couple at the time... took me a few minutes to realize they were together, and I got more details later on...), who had all come up with Carol Shepherdson (Cory and Braden's mom... Braden and Sophie would be coming up with their dad the next day). Joyce and I went back eventually and watched dad trying in vain to get our electric cord over a dead tree (*pose*), and carried in a few things. Then we went for dinner at the Noelville restaurant. I was feeling a little sick... it wasn't fun, but I was all right. I had spaghetti, as did mom. Joyce had poutine (she had gotten her bottom braces the day before... meep) and dad had a club sandwich. Midori was our server, and apparently Nick was cooking the food. ^^;

We got back, set up the add-a-room... and I don't remember much else going on that day, besides mom and I going for a short walk. So... that's basically what happened on the first day of my just-over-two solid weeks at Noronto.

Saturday was the day that just about everyone arrived -- Withrows and Williamses (and a few other families) excepted. People were setting up tents left and right. I was walking somewhere (in the general direction of my trailer...) when I noticed that the rest of the Shepherdsons had arrived, so I waved to Braden (who was buisy saying hello to his extended family...) and continued on. Not too long after that, I was in the chapel playing piano (and writing part of a song that I'm still not done yet, but I think I know where it's going now,) when Braden and Sophie came in. So... I said hello more properly and met Sophie. She played piano for a bit (she's good), and we looked around at/made fun of the stuff at the front of the chapel (ie the video tapes in a box that was used for some sort of... drink mix?). I hung out with them for most of the day week. We... went up to the point (or whatever you call where the path near where the Withrows stay leads...) and hung out there... and did... erm... other stuff too. Yeah. (I'm sorry... I need to start writing stuff down as I'm doing it).

The opening service was that night... it was pretty good. Half of it was announcements though... ^^;;;

Oh, and I got the chance to be "psychic" once again. (AKA they posted the week's meal list right around dinnertime)

And that's all for Saturday.

On Sunday, everyone else showed up. We all said our hellos, skipped and jumped about, and had fun in general.

I woke up that morning and heard someone playing piano... some of the same hymns that Braden, Sophie and I had been talking about to be exact. I guessed that it was Braden playing... and found out a few hours later that I was right. ^_^ I went to the morning service along with the two of them a few hours later. It was communion, even though it wasn't the first Sunday of the month. (They generally do it the first Sunday of reunion, but it's generally the first of the month too, so we were wondering if they would or not this time.)

I think that this day's lunch was the salad lunch. Jared was complaining because there was little that he could eat since he's allergic to so much (he ended up having part of 3 boiled eggs for lunch). We asked him why he wasn't having any regular salad, as he's not allergic to lettuce.

His response: "Lettuce makes me gag."

What at least one person (I think Sophie?) heard: "Lettuce makes me gay."

Let's just say that this became an inside joke for the rest of the week. (I love you Sophie!)

Sometime in the early afternoon, a group of us went into the Mitchell trailer, which is where Jen was staying until her parents came, if I remember correctly. We talked about stuff, particularily the higharchy of a society that exists within a series that Jen and Jared both love. That is... they were explaining it to us... the classes and the jewels and whatnot. I felt a little like a fifth wheel (being in there with two couples and all...), but meh. We're all friends.

Later on, after Jason arrived, him, Braden, Sophie and I set up a dining tent-ish thingy the back... erm... front... err... the pocket of open space behind the cottage that is beside the path leading to and from the main camp area (yes...). That was pretty fun... we got it done well enough... and got a table and benches inside. So... we were set with our main Munchkin-ing spot for the week.

In the evening (I think it was that night), everyone was waiting for France to arrive. There was a group of us standing around the Fryer area as we waited. At some point, (I think it was right before I left), I told the girls that when she got there, they should be all happy and go *spreads arms and lifts one leg* "FRANCE!" (the leg being the most importnat part... :P). Finally, it was 11:00, and no France, so most of us headed off to bed, either with curfiew or because we were tired. I went and grabbed my stuff and headed towards the upper washrooms, which meant passing the group again. The girls were like, "Look Claire! We've got it choreographed!" "1, 2, 3..." "FRANCE!" ...and they all did it. It was hillarious, and I was like... that's just awesome. So... then I went and brushed my teeth and all that and when I came back, France was there. I was like, "FRANCE!" (though I did it minorly so she probably wouldn't have noticed...).

In short, 'twas a good day.

Ah, Monday. Monday was crazy, Claire has a life day.

The morning was... erm... I don't remember anything happening in the morning actually. Unless... wait... Monday was the day that the whole history of the campgrounds and chapel thing took place, wasn't it? I shall say it was, because my memory is that wacked up.

So... there was a service dedicated to the chapel and the campgrounds. We learned some interesting facts about the place (ie: the trees at the site being blown up and the fuses being used getting shorter and shorter... or the fact that the last few rows of panelling at the top of the chapel is thinner than the rest, and is actutally a different type of wood!). It was really interesting... and so were the camp logs on display at the back (remember whens and wills are fun to look over... especially when you find people you know...)

I got to have lunch early that day because I was helping out at the tea room that was part of family day that afternoon.

So... after lunch, I went to set up the tearoom (AKA taping brown paper to tables to work as tablecloths and creating nice arrangements of brownies and butter tarts while the other two ladies helping out started the kettle boiling and got the actual tea ready). It went over pretty well, though it still holds that not many kids like tea as much as I do (one little boy was all over the room... he loves his tea...). I was sad because none of my friends came to visit me... ;_; They were all too busy playing a game of epic munchkin and forgetting the fact that you're supposed to draw 2 cards at a time for levels 10-20 (22 if you've got "mine plays to 11"). I laugh at them for that...

I did see Natalie though... she looks so different now because she cut her hair short and died it bright red. I didn't recognise her right away... but apparently a lot of people don't, so she wasn't offended.

Anyway... the tearoom was good... and the dinner was good too -- twas hotdogs and hamburgers served outside. We ate and were marry. I got to be sad/abandonned once again, 'cause no one came with me to the talent show. The girls were there actually... they were sitting near-ish to me but a few rows back... (%hearts; you all!) but I had to sit at the front to help Lara, so I was all aloooone! ;_;

Everyone liked my rendition of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow", and Lara's Russian Titanic was awesome as always. ^_^

The show ended with a movie of a play that Reade had apparently written and was in. It was cool... but it got "Always Look On The Bright Side of Life" stuck in my head for a few days... ^^;

After that... not much happened. I think I found people and hung out till curfiew... but yeah... that was just about it for Monday.

If you're paying attention, you've noticed a blank gap here. It's not because my memory's gone blank or I've deleted part of my entry... I just felt that I should group Tues. - Thurs. together, and I didn't want to mess up my pretty formatting by grouping them together on the main page. :P

Why am I doing it this way? Well, a few memorable things happened over these three days, but they were mostly the same. In the morning, I would get up and hang out with Braden and Sophie, the two other people that generally got up early. We would talk about stuff -- and spotted Jason on his way to the shower twice in the same morning (he forget his towel the first time...) -- and then would go and do stuff.

Intergenerational classes were more aimed towards kids and older people (not teenagers...), but they were all right in my eyes. Choir was afterwards, and yes, I was in it too... singing songs is fun. I was doing ALTO because all but one person there was soprano, and I feel comfortable enough with my range to switch back and forth.

I would go to the Sr. High classes in the afternoon, and had a good time at them, though no one else from the group went besides on the first day, in which we wrote/drew about who we were. The other days were more fun... we had conversations about different topics and got chocolate.

A few games of bloodbowl were played, as were a few rounds of Euchre and Braden taught me how to play bridge. Munchkin was also played, but you were probably expecting that. :P During one of them, Jason mentionned the idea of Munchkin as an LARP... or more specifically, if that were to happen, the fact that I would go around with itching powder and forcing people to remove articles of clothing ("shirt"). I think that Jared started coming up with the ultimate weapon/enemy/character using certain decks/deck combinations sometime over these few days as well, though this was an ongoing process that went on until the very end of Reunion.

The evenings were filled with interesting talks (we discussed what songs would be rather odd to have a fireworks show to one day...), campfires (for me), canteen (not for me... :P), and youth events. I went to some of them, but not others. The pizza night was good... I wish I had gotten more than 2 slices actually... I was having a nice conversation about university hopes and fears during that, but it ended too soon thanks to curfiew.

Other nights were spent talking with... erm... mostly other gifties. ^^; Sophie and I took up to talking about musicals whenever Jason and Braden went off about video games. It was great... especially when we started singing one song in particular and both Jason and Braden had the same "I don't know them" expression and turned away in almost perfect sync. I laughed.

Another night (Tuesday?), Braden and Sophie said they were going to bed early, so Jason and I talked, then went for a walk, and found them sitting around with most of the Shepherdson clan. We were invited to join, and so we did, standing around until Braden and Jason decided to go for a walk. I took the former's spot (beside Sophie), and the two of us started talking, along with being part of the larger conversation going on with the adults. I was willing to bet that the two boys were talking about video games, and found out the next day that they were indeed -- they had started about 6 steps away from us and continued doing such till sometime after midnight. ^^;

And... yeah... that was Tuesday through Thursday. All three days were good. *dances*

And now we come to Friday. Friday was crazy day. *nods*

First of all, it rained.

It rained hard.

It raned hard all day.

Braden, Sophie and I were hanging out on the deck, and then everyone else came there for muffin break because it was too wet to have it in its normal place on the side of the dining hall. When it came time for intergenerational class, I went off to the chapel (which was where my group was). Everyone else in the group (which had congregated between the time that we had arrived, and the end of coffee time) stayed there except for Braden, who was going to get his Evangelist's blessing done by Clair (his great uncle and the reason why it would be awkward if I were to marry a Shepherdson). So... class was pretty good that day, and Braden came near the end, joining our circle. At the very end, we went around/behind the other group in the chapel and sang our closing hymn together. It was good.

Braden and I stuck around and did some piano/singing afterwards, if memory serves me correct. (We did that a couple of times over the week since he likes playing hymns and... well... I like to sing... ^^;)
Then, it was time for KP. Everyone went [running] over to the dining hall, and we started setting up. I forget what we had for lunch yesterday, though the word "leftovers" comes to mind. Clean up was a little hectic because there were a bunch of little kids being hyper and calling me crazy and splashing water on me which caused me to break out on my arm a bit.

There was a baptisimal service right afterwards. I didn't have my umbrella with me at the moment, but Sophie offered to share her poncho. She had the head, and I was in front and to the side a bit. It was awesome because I could only see 2-3 inches in front of my feet. She was giving me directions so I didn't bump into any trees, and I was able to figure out when we were passing the Camp Quality stone just by the ground I could see. It was fun. ^^

So... we started out in the chapel, everyone being relatively dry.

Then we had to go to the lake for the actual baptism. I walked and stood with my mom, sharing an umbrella with her. We were singing "Where he leads me I will follow" on the way down, and some people were adding their own verses. Two that I remember:

"I'll go with him though it's ranining,
I'll go with him though it's ranining,
I'll go with him though it's ranining,
I'll go with him, with him, all the way."

"I'll be drenched, but I'll still love him,
I'll be drenched, but I'll still love him,
I'll be drenched, but I'll still love him,
And I'll go with him, with him, all the way."

The baptism went well, and people stayed... well... relatively dry. I then retrieved my own umbrella, and it remained my best friend for the rest of the day.

Class started out in our normal place -- the deck -- but we had to move indoors because we couldn't hear each other over the rain... and a few of us were feeling minor leakages. (Seriously, Jenna was sitting beside me, and turned and asked me if it was leaking... and I was like, yeah...)

The Shepherdsons had a really fun time because of the rain. Really fun. Like... their dining tent blowing off (that was quickly fixed) and the awning on their borrowed trailer collapsing. Braden came up with a makeshift way of fixing that... but still...

Dinner KP was better than lunch... and we got first dibs on the lazagna... *drools* That was just too awesome. I mean... the lazagna and fresh bread that accompanied it was easily one of, if not the best meal we had all week. It was awesome.

Plus... during dinner KP, Braden, Sophie and I all decided that we should take a trip over to the washrooms. We all ran there under a big golf umbrella, and had to come up with a gameplan to get back. It was fun.

After dinner, I decided that I needed to change my pants. Why? I was wearing my modrobes, and although they were relatively dry overall, the bottoms were wet enough that I could wring them out! That's what they get for being long enough to touch puddles on the ground... So... I was wearing navy blue shorts for the rest of the day.

Jason seemed down during KP and onwards, so after the evening service (which I attended of course...), I went and talked to him. He was having some problems over whether or not he should stay for Sr. High. The two of us ended up going to the cottage and playing random card games (he half-taught me Rummy/Gin Rummy, and we played crazy eights and go fish and he won just about all of them) and saying hi to Alf's baby... again. She is soooo CUTE! (She's at the stage where she likes putting her mouth on everything... ^^; but she's got these huge eyes and... awww...) Apparently she likes hearing me sing... ^^;;;;

I stayed there till curfiew, then I went back home (AKA my trailer), and that was Friday.

And so we come to the last day of Reunion. I went to the closing service... it was long, but good. More random conversations and bridge also took place that day, along with goodbyes to a lot of people.

The afternoon was mostly spent doing laundry. A whole bunch of us headed down to the laundrimat in Noelville to get our stuff ready for Sr High. I was feeling really tired, so I stayed in the car for most of it and relaxed, read comics, and attempted to sleep. At some point, everyone that had come with Duane came out, having finished all their work. They felt like they had left something behind, so Duane went back in to investigate. He returned wearing a bunch of bras around his neck and asked if he looked good in them. That was great.

My family went to the Noelville restaurant for dinner. Midori served us again. ^_^ When we were back, everyone else had just left for a roast beef dinner being held in town. We used this time to re-pack our stuff, and getting it ready to move over to the A frame on Sunday.

When everyone came back we hung out some more and did... erm... random things... I was sitting on the dock at one point, and Jason and Jared tried to force me to carry wood... they actually started carrying me over to the pile... that was fun... Jason and I ended up over at the Williamses with Jen and Jared. The two of them got Jason to play Mao with them... which is a slightly weird-ish game in my opinion. I think I shall stick to observing it for now. The two of us then headed over to my trailer, and we talked... and talked... till well after my curfiew... but I was home so it worked. :P

I went to bed that night sad that reunion was over, but excited for the week ahead.

...and that is Reunion. Tune in again... hopefully soon-ish for the Sr. High Recap entry!
