We did it! We're going on to the provincials!!!!!!

Okay, not me persay... but the cast and crew of This Is For You, Anna, and thus Sinclair, is.

So... I think I was there at the Sears Drama Festival (Eastern Regional competition) the most out of all Sinclair non-cast/crew members this week... and even beating out some of them... as I was there for all but one day, and the last play on Thursday. Lots of great plays all week long.

Yeah... This Is For You, Anna was officially awesome.

When we arrived, the teachers were suggesting we write notes to the "Anna" people, showing our support and being all motivating and such. I don't remember what all I said in mine, but it went something like this:

"Hi guys!
Well, it's been a great week and there's been some awesome shows. But you guys are right up there in the awesomeness. I mean, I saw your show Monday, and it's great. You guys said that it was fairly bad that day, if you call that bad, I can't wait to see how great it's going to be tonight at its perfection! Break a leg everyone!

Claire"

Before the show started, Jen and I decided to write "Go Sinclair!!!" on my arm... that enough school spirit? Mr.. Selby was commenting on it... joking that I randomly break out into school cheers/slogans... So... It's now between that and "The Physics Girl" for my title/powers ("Whenever I think about physics, the equations appear on my arm" "be quiet or I shall Physics you!").

Savage Love went first. Jen-chan thought the blonde guy was hot. ^^; I thought it was pretty well done, if a little abstract.

Then, intermission, in which we walked around and debated who was shyer. I still think that I'd win. I mean... I was sitting something like 10 feet away from the guy I've had a crush on for a few months... and I didn't so much as say "hi" to him all night... yeah... me=shy. I pointed this out later actually... but the argument started here... and then, it was time for our play, This Is For You, Anna.

They performed second, and did an outstanding job. The adjudicator even said that, before he went in on his usual criticizing. (He had some comments on how every play could improve.) Hmmm... I wouldn't be surprised if some people were amazed that ours was student directed. It looked so amazing, better than some of the teacher-directed ones. (GO NIKKI!!!)

After the show, I sent another note to the cast/crew, which went something like this:

"Hey guys!
You all reeked of awesomeness up there! The awards are taking place in the theatre, which is where I am now, so I'm not sure whether to wish you 'gl' or 'break a leg', so do whichever you'd rather and win lots of awards!!!!!

Claire"

We got an award of merit for Paul's lighting and sound, and two awards of achievement:one for Nikki's directing and the other for the cast. We were applauding and cheering loudly for Paul, and gave standing ovations for the two others.

The 3 plays that went on were (in this Order):

Antigone. That one was awesome. They performed on Thursday, and had great use of masks... (everyone in the cast wore won for the duration of the play...) Stuart was giving them a standing ovation when they were called, and I don't overly blame him. Their performance was really amazing. Their actors won a couple of well deserved awards of merit and excellence throughout the evening too. The funny thing is: they're from Ottawa if I'm not mistaken, and the provincials are in Ottawa. So... they won the right to perform in their home area. ^^;

Savage Love. We were applauding them... theirs was really good. It was overly abstract, with little vignettes rather than one solid story line all about different parts of love and relationships. One good thing was that they used b/g, g/g, and b/b relationships throughout, rather than just sticking with straight couples. Straight ones were still in the majority, but it's good that they did explore all 3.

we were all at the edge of our seats now. He had been going in more or less chronological order so far, and Savage Love had performed right before us... which means that we had a great chance. That was confirmed when he announced the 3rd play was...
This Is For You, Anna!!!!

So... yeah... We won!We WON!!WE WON!!!We WON!!We won!

We were all going ecstatic, and gave a standing ovation... as did Perth ^^; The cast and crew had a ginormous group hug as Nikki and Erik got the award. Then, after the awards ceremony was officially over, all us Sinclair people got together and had a little 5-10 minute celebration of mass congratulations and hugs. It was great! So much happiness being shared by all Sinclair-onians... But really, it was totally awesome, and no one was surprised in the least that we made it.

Oh... in my grandfather's ward, there is guy named Jonathon, or Jon for short, that is 18, and goes to Peterborough CVI. It turns out that the school is an arts high school, and has the giftie program, which he is a part of (he's not in the arts program, though he does do some sculpting if I'm not mistaken). His school did This Is A Play in Sears. Mom and I sent him a copy of the playbill, a ticket from when they performed (we had extras from the subscriptions we bought on Tuesday...) and I attached another note which went something like this:

"Hi Jon!

My name is Claire, and I saw your school perform 'This Is A Play'. It was really good! My school (Sinclair) did it a few years ago and it was great to see it done again. I hope you get well soon.

Claire

PS: I hear that you're a giftie. So am I! Gifties rule!"

So, yeah, my 2 weeks of a drama geek's dream come true are now half over. Next week I get to go see 2 musicals: Pelagie with school, and Fiddler on the Roof for my nana and grandad's 50th wedding anniversary.

Plus, tomorrow's Kiwanis. We (the Sr band) are going to be great. I know it. Between Kiwanis and Sears, Musical Theatre's going to be so full of overly happy energy on Monday... perfect for a run, and announcement-recording.

Well, that's all from me for now. So... time for some

Pardon, how old was he again?

> youre not perfect

I wouldn't trust this thing, Claire. It says people envy me, it must get things wrong or something. I assume it means to say that you are perfect.

You'll need to pronounce that name in Japanese to me in person, I'm not sure I've got it right here.

I couldn't even guarentee that I'm pronouncing it 100% correctly, as I don't talk to people who speak Japanese on a regular basis... *shrugs*
