So... we read 10 chapters of HP yesterday. Okay... so mom read and the rest of us did stuff (I was exercising for part of it... ^^;). It took us from 3:30 till just after 11:00, with an hour or so in breaks. In short, we finished the book. Wanna know my first thought after finishing? minor spoilers ) Yes, stupid, I know. And frivilous. Nothing about people dying or Voldimort or horcruxes or anything. Just... that.

Yay me?

Yesterday was the 60th anniversary of the Hiroshima attacks. Scary, isn't it? I really do hope that nothing like that ever happens again. Ever. Did you know that less than 300 years of peace have existed in written history? Scary, isn't it? We really need more peace in this world. Less fighting, less violence.

Do you know what I hate about war?

It's not the people that start the fighting that get hurt. It's the millions that are at their command. I think that's sad.

I saw an interesting story on the news yesterday. Apparently two STRAIGHT men married each other yesterday to prove there were loopholes in the new gay marriage legislation... ^^:

I've been writing fluff lately. Again. It's fun.

Camp in less than a week! Yaaay!

Joyce and I went minigolfing with the Withrows (and Megan) on Friday. It was fun. I won (if scores were done like in Bowling/most non-golf games...) :P We're all going to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory today. Should be fun. ^_^

And guys, we've got a GINORMOUS check ready for reunion. ^______________^

That's all for now...

quizzies, survey thingy... that sort of shtuff )

COUNTDOWN: 5 days till Monetville, 6 days till reunion

Random fact: People who are lactose intolerant generally have no problem with chocolate milk. (It's true! ask Joyce!)

Okay. I mentionned this is my last post but I was slightly wrong about the details.

Two straight men are engaged to be married... mostly to prove a loophole in the new gay marriage legislation. More info here.

Yes, this is real.

In completely unrelated news, as [livejournal.com profile] lovehiei13 pointed out, there's water on Mars!

With any luck, life on Mars will soon be discovered as well. ^____^

I suddenly have a craving for tacos... >.>

So... anyways... I went and saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. It wasn't as good as the first movie in my opinion.

Basically, if you want something true to the book, take the characters from the original movie, and give them the plot from the new one, minus all the little "daddy" things. That combination would give you something almost COMPLETELY faithful, believe it or not.

Before we entered the theatre to grab our seats, I noticed the sign above the door. Since "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" was too long to fit, they had shortened it down to, and I quote "Charlies Cho". Obviously someone's into creating odd HP pairings... :P

And Willy Wonka's dad is SARUMAN!!! He was even dressed in white whenever you saw him! Yes... that did make me giggle a lot...

The best part of the movie was the Oompa Loompa songs. I still like the "Oompa Loompa Doopady Doo..." thing, but these songs were amusing... and based off of the rhymes/songs found within the book!

Johnny Depp was... all right... he was playing the character, but it seemed a little too... little-boy-who-likes-slightly-gross-things-and-doesn't-like-other-kids like. *heh* It would have been better if he was a littly more friendly, and maybe played with a bit of an English accent while skipping around everywhere *giggles*.

The kids were chosen well. I liked how Mike Teevee was modernized... yay for beating the system! But... HOW CAN HE NOT LIKE CHOCOLATE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Veruca was good, but I realy wanted to hear her say "Daddy, I do NOT want a trained squirrel!". Violet... would have been a little better if they stuck to the gum-chewing, rather than making her "little miss awesome at everything". Her actress was good though... very charismatic. Agustus was... perfect. Really liked him. And Charlie was really good too.

I wanna see someone make an icon of Granda Joe dancing. And of Grandma Georgina with the text "I like grapes". They probably already exist somewhere... now that I think about it...

I still want to see an icon with the video clip of Aragorn and Pippin kissing too...

I think I'll leave you on that thought... :P )

Random fact: Roald Dahl (the guy who wrote the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory also wrote the screenplay to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (AKA the old movie, which in and of itself is love). ^_^
