So, I’m writing an lj rant on Microsoft Word right now. Why? Because the internet has been down all afternoon. It was on for about half an hour-ish, and then went out again. If it’s been on since, it was when I was at commencement and therefore doesn’t count.

Oh, and if you’re wondering, this is Friday, November 11, 2005. I’m writing this in the hour between 10 and 11:00 pm.

Next week is going to be fun. < / sarcasm >

Why? I’ve got stuff due Tuesday and Wednesday. I’m also planning to attend at least 2, if not 3 events at school. Those, mind you, actually should be fun. *nodnod*

So… let’s talk about today, shall we?

I got up this morning at 6:00. Same time as always. Had cottage cheese and orange juice for breakfast. Got ready, and left for school.

At school, I did random stuff on my computer for an hour and then went to the library. Why the library? Because one of the things due next week is the proposal for a research paper, and I hadn’t started doing preliminary work yet. (Bad Claire, bad!) It was weird-ish. The catalogue said that the books were in… but they weren’t where they were supposed to be, and hense I wasn’t able to get any of them… ;_; Luckily, I found a book that will help, and they listed one online. I also have a session with a librarian booked for the morning it’s due (if I had thought of doing it earlier I would have booked one for today… >.<) so that should help me too… for my final paper at least…

I spent… basically all morning in there. After that, I had one hour of class, and then it was home time. Had a cheeseburger and salad for lunch. The parmasan container broke, so I had to transfer the untainted cheese into another container. That was messy. >.<

When my lunch was cooking, I went channel surfing, and guess what I found on?!?

SPICE WORLD ^_^

I was geekishly happy, and decided to watch it.

Unfortunately, about 20-30 minutes later, the cable decided to blow up on me, leaving me internet and TV channel-less. :(

Nothing had changed by the time I had finished eating, so I went and had a bath and defused my hair. Stuff was still down when I came out. ;_;

So… I grabbed my laptop and the play that I’m critiquing for Collaborations (okay… it’s a live art experience paper… but they were selling the script, so we picked up a copy and got it autographed!) and started reading it.

About halfway through, the internet returned! I was happy and rejoiced and talked to Jason… and then it cut on me again. ;_; I finished reading the play, and by then it was basically dinner time.

Dinner was chicken stir-fry. The stir-fry comes in a bag, ready to go. The chicken and rice that we had with it do not.

After dinner, I just had time to put on the outfit I bought yesterday – red suade jacket (it looks like leather in the right light!) and black top with my black pants and a cool necklace – and I was off for commencement.

I met up with Aynsley and Susan, we talked a little before commencement started. I miss them… *sigh* I also talked to Aaron and Conrad. This was all of our 4th commencement to attend. Aaron’s first two were at a different school mind you… and when I say 4th, I mean BAND. (Yay BAND!)

Commencement started a little late-ish. We lined up, and were moved numerous times, and then entered… ended up sitting in the wrong spot and getting muchly confused… and then it officially began.

Band sounded good. They played a song that we played either last year or the year before, but I can’t remember which. I think it might have been 2 years ago for commencement, but Susan disagrees so I don’t know. I was able to hum most of the me-inet part at any rate… ^^;

The choir performed too. I was so happy to see Clara singing! I couldn’t tell if she was soprano or alto, but I thought they sounded good. Some of the people around me were bashing them and the fact that there was only one boy in it, but I liked it and knew that there almost ALWAYS was only one boy in it.

Yay for people who won awards! I didn’t… but oh well.

Ms. Lang wasn’t there, which was sad… but Mr. Thorne presented my TAP’s diplomas instead. I was glad that it was him at least, because I got to hug him. ^^; I felt comfortable doing that with him because it was a teacher that I’d had… numerous times before through band… whereas it could have been one that I had never had before or something. Still, it would have been nice to have Ms. Lang there… ;_;

So… what did I get? I got my giftie certificate (3 copies! No idea why 3 copies… but 3 copies!), my Ontario Scholar’s certificate (and two congradulatory letters), and my diploma itself.

Nikki was the valedictorian. She gave a cool speech that mentioned 4 important things: Red Screen, Celtic days, Dr. Seuss, and Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers. :P The main theme was transitions… it was nice. She got a standing ovation at beginning and end, and thurroughly deserved it. GO NIKKI!

There was a reception afterwards. I talked to a few people, got a rose from Lisa (I ♥ you!) and then left. I might have stayed longer… but honestly I was feeling lonely and drowning in a sea of people. Crowded atmospheres just aren’t my thing.

(I bumped into the mother of a girl that I was friends with in grade one. She remembered me! That was a little suprising, but cool nonetheless.)

So, what do I think?

I am now officially not a high school student. I’m done.

It feels weird knowing that there are many people I will never see again. Many people who will never grace the same halls as me. Many people that I never got to give a proper goodbye to, and many more that I expected to talk to more today than I did, or just talk to them at all.

I guess that’s life though.

I’d say it’s time to finally start beliving that I’m no longer a kid, but I technically am for 5 more months! :P

So… umm… I guess it’s just time for me to move on. I miss high school, but university is good. Diffrerent, bigger, but good. Like going from elementary school to highschool, only older.

Anyways… I got home at 10-ish. I’ve been trying to get online ever since, but it’s still down. ;_; At least the cable’s working again, so I can watch .hack//SIGN while writing this… ^^;

My thumb hurts. I managed to stick the needle on my poppy into it earlier today… ;_;

New chapter of FMA soon! Yays.

Anyways… that’s my day.

”quizzies!” )
